今天要來講相關連接詞 Correlative Conjunctions

先來看看一段出自聖經的話

「 一個人種什麼，就收什麼 」

「 As ye sow, so shall ye reap. 」

句子當中的As…so就是相關連接詞

那常見的相關連接詞有哪些呢?

不是…就是 Either…or

既不…且不 Neither…nor

不但…而且 Not only…but also

兩者都 Both…and

只要…就會 As…so

如此…以致 So…that

不論…或 Whether…or

不在於…而是 Not so much…as

舉例如下:

Either you or I will be in the first place in our class.

不是你就是我會贏得班上第一名

Neither Cathy nor Masa knew where she went.

Cathy跟Masa都不知道她去哪裏了

He coached not only swimming but also cooking.

他不只教授游泳也教烹飪

Both my mom and my dad went to the convention.

我爸跟我媽都去參加會議了

Our teacher was so angry that he even said N words.

我們的老師生氣到說出髒話

It doesn’t matter whether he is poor or rich, I will marry him.

他有沒有錢都不重要，我都會嫁給他的

I am not so much angry as sad.

我傷心比生氣還多

這邊要注意的重點是，每個詞都有相對的搭配詞

例如Either…or 但是不可以隨便亂換搭配詞

Either…nor或是 Neither…that 都是不可以的唷

Neither 或 Nor 可以單獨當作連接詞來使用

用法: 否定子句, Neither/Nor + 助動詞 + 主詞 + 動詞

Neither 或 Nor 單獨當連接詞，

通常前面的子句是否定的，

此時Neither 或 Nor 所帶的子句，

主詞跟助動詞的順序要交換

舉例如下:

I never called her again, nor have I regretted it. (O)

I never called her again, nor I have regretted it. (X)

我沒有再打給他過了，而我對此事也不後悔

She hadn’t done any homework, neither had she brought any of her books to class.

他沒有做任何的作業，連一本書也沒帶來教室
